Princess Diana dresses handsomely rewarded
A total of 14 dresses owned by Princess Diana's will auction in Toronto, Canada, 23 June. Tampa entrepreneur Maureen Dunkel bought this collection of eight weeks before Diana died in a car crash in Paris in 1997.
As reported by Reuters on Saturday, May 21, 2011, the sale will be conducted one week before Diana's sons, Prince William, and his wife, Kate Middleton, arrived in Canada within one week visit. They married on April 29 at Westminster Abbey.
"We chose Toronto as the most popular tourist attractions," said Dunkel.
The dress will be sold by auction house Waddington. Bids can be made in person or by telephone.
The most valuable collection is a blue velvet gown worn at dinner at the White House in 1985. It was Diana attended the invitation of President Ronald Reagan. Waddington membandrol this outfit U.S. $ 1 - 1.25 million or around Rp 8, 5 - 10.7 billion.
Other dresses ranged between U.S. $ 175-550 thousand (Rp1, 5 - 4.7 billion). Image and the estimated value of these dresses can be seen on the site Waddington, www.waddingtons.ca.
This collection has been exhibited in several major cities in the United States, Canada, and New Zealand and was presented during 10 years at Kensington Palace, London, where Princess Diana lived after her divorce from Prince Charles.
